Start with verified controls
W/S = Pitch, A/D = Turn, SHIFT = Throttle Up, CTRL = Throttle Down / Unlock Mouse. The Pilot Guide is built on this verified mapping, not on inferred roll/yaw keys.
Throttle discipline
Hold SHIFT for take-off power, back off to cruise, and use CTRL for descents. Throttle discipline is the single biggest driver of coin payout because it controls both safety and fuel burn.
Pitch control
Use small W inputs for climb and small S inputs for descent. Avoid sustained pitch extremes; the Aircraft Performance Calculator's climb rate assumes short, deliberate inputs.
Approach speed and landing
Compute v_approach in the Landing Difficulty Scorer (1.3 * stall + 0.2 * crosswind). Fly that speed on final and keep sink rate under 3 ft/s to keep the landing grade at B or better.
Plan the route first
Use the Route Distance & Fuel Planner before take-off to confirm distance, time, and reserve fuel. Pilots who plan first finish with cleaner landings and higher coin payouts.
